Teaching

I help students develop the cultural competencies necessary to access global opportunities within increasingly internationalised labour markets.

Summary

I have been lecturing since 2008 and until 2014 taught journalism theory and practice and new media. At Bournemouth University (2014 onwards) I teach across a spectrum of degree programmes in politics, advertising, public relations and marketing communications.

I am strongly motivated by a desire to inspire and motivate students and work hard to promote interaction and engagement. My commitment to scholarship ensures my teaching is informed by research and reflects the latest developments.

I am a firm advocate, innovator and practitioner of pedagogies of social justice and cultural democracy. As such, I am deeply committed to inclusive teaching practices that create the conditions to enable students from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to utilise their full potential to achieve lifelong success – and I design teaching that promotes social change. See my blog post This Is What Social Justice Pedagogy Looks Like.
