Welcome to my website. I'm a former journalist, author and university lecturer currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Salford in Manchester, UK where I also teach undergraduate courses in journalism and media.
I am a 'late bloomer' who first entered higher education at the age of 40. After completing a BA in journalism studies, my passion for learning and teaching led me towards a postgraduate certificate in teaching in higher education and my present role as a lecturer and researcher.
My experience in community media informs my role as a Public Engagement Ambassador for the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement and I'm currently organising an exhibition for 2013 to engage the wider public with my research on African Caribbean bloggers in the UK.
