Welcome to my website. I'm a former journalist, author and university lecturer currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Salford in Manchester, UK where I also teach undergraduate courses in journalism and media.
I am a 'late bloomer' who first entered higher education at the age of 40. After completing a BA in journalism studies, my passion for learning and teaching led me towards a postgraduate certificate in teaching in higher education and my present role as a lecturer and PhD researcher.
I believe very strongly that higher education is a vital link to social mobility and therefore strategies to widen participation should be increased. To that end, I have recently taken on a new role as a Public Engagement Ambassador for the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement and I'm currently developing ways of engaging the public with my PhD research project.
My mission in life is to inspire and empower individuals through teaching and training.
